March 2, 2006 -“Cutting Day”, Farmers Market in Marina
First annual community exchange of seeds, slips and cuttings. Hosted by Marina Tree & Garden Club volunteers. Participants were encouraged to drop off, take or exchange plant materials and information. The Cutting Day gives local residents the opportunity to try new plants, seed and cuttings that local gardeners have established in local gardens. Club volunteers were on hand to provide information on cuttings and seeds and how to plant and care for them. Free and open to the public.
April 22, 2006 - General Club Meeting, Grange Hall in Marina
Introduction to newly formed club mission and educational purpose. Presentations were made by officers of the California Garden Clubs, Inc. on the benefits of joining with the California Garden Clubs, Inc.. Also the following local organizations had information tables: The Marina Coast Water District, The Native Plant Society and the Chuck Hagen Conservation Foundation. Information was provided on prior Marina Garden tours and attendees were encouraged to become involved in the planning of club activities such as tree plantings, the annual garden tour, field trips, and civic beautification projects Seed and one gallon (Oak) trees were given away to attendees. Free and open to the public.
May 13, 2006 - 7th Annual Marina International Festival of the Winds
Volunteer presence at annual Wind Festival to promote club events and membership.
May 20, 2006 - Community Garden Clean-Up Day
The local water purveyor, the Marina Coast Water District, maintains a Marina Coast Water Management District Well Site at which the Garden Club and District have planted a demonstration drought tolerant Community Garden along the main road though the center of the City of Marina. Marina Tree and Garden Club volunteers do several weeding and general cleanup days throughout the year to maintain the Community Garden. May 20, 2006 was a general cleanup of the Community Garden and a demonstration event for the public. Free and open to the public.
June 3, 2006 - General Club Meeting - Pest Control Presentation
Presentation by local landscaper Richard Boynton on pest control in the Marina area. This was followed by on-site tree pruning demonstration by Brian Jacobson of Smith Tree Service done at a local school, Marina Vista Elementary. Free and open to the public.
June 17, 2006 - "Adopt-a-Highway" Tree Planting
Seventy-five Cypress Trees were provided by Club funds and were planted by volunteers along the CalTrans highway strip along Highway 1 in Marina.. Drip systems were upgraded on new and existing plantings. Free and open to the public.
July 22, 2006 - Drought Tolerant Plant Sale
Plants provided by the Drought Tolerant Nursery as a Club fundraising event.
Proceeds to benefit future purchases of plants and supplies for civic beautification projects by the Marina Tree & Garden Club in Marina. Plant cultivation and information disseminated to public.
September 9, 2006 Carmel Valley - Succulent Gardens Field Trip
Club members and interested public took a field trip to a wholesale garden site in Carmel Valley to learn more succulent gardening. Discounts on purchases from the wholesaler were offered to all participants.
October 22, 2006 - Seed Exchange, Farmers Market in Marina
Club volunteers provided free California native and drought tolerant seed packets and information on plantings at the open air organic Farmers Market in Marina.
October 25, 2006 - General Club Meeting - Water Wise Landscaping
Speaker Paul Lord of the Marina Coast Water District (MCWD) presented "Water Wise" landscaping concepts along with giveaway promotional materials from the MCWD. Free and open to the public.
November 8, 2006 - The Marina Tree and Garden Club Website Goes Up!
The website has an homepage about the club, a calendar of events, information about past and future annual Marina Garden Tours, an “In the Garden” page that is a compendium of articles, images and insights on garden and plant related subjects, and links to other organizations of gardening interest.
January 27, 2007 - General Club Meeting - Dune Restoration/Native Plants and Shrubs
General Membership Meeting -Joey Dorrell-Canepa of the Beach Garden Project, presented a slide show on the restoration and replanting of local sand dunes with natives plants and shrubs. Tim Jensen of the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District made a presentation of planned upgrades for Locke-Paddon Park in Marina.
February 24, 2007 - Community Garden Clean-Up Day
Marina Coast Water Management District Well Site. General cleanup of the club supported drought tolerant demonstration garden. Free and open to the public.
April, 2007 - Street trees for Habitat for Humanity home site at 229 Palm Avenue, Marina
Marina Tree and Garden Club funds purchase street trees, planting and installation of city-required tree grates.
April 14, 2007 - Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District Earth Day, Locke-Paddon Park
Club Volunteers hosted a booth at the Earth Day event to promote club events, membership. Giveaway of free Monterey Pine Seedlings.

May 6, 2007 - Marina Garden Tour, various locations
Private hosted gardens were open to the public to share and exchange the trials and successes of gardening in Marina's sandy soil, salt air & wind. Fundraiser for the Marina Tree & Garden Club included ticket sales to gardens, and, a plant sale at Marina Coast Water District Well Site.
July 26 , 2007 - General Club Meeting - Exotic Species in Fort Ord
General Membership Meeting - Bruce Delgado, presented a slide show on the Bureau of Land Management lands at Fort Ord specific to invasive species and habitats found in the region. Live snakes, legless lizards and salamanders were used to illustrate various habitat changes brought on by introductions of non-native species.
September 30, 2007 - Seed Exchange, Farmers Market in Marina
Club volunteers and community members exchanged backyard garden seeds, California native and drought tolerant seeds and information on planting at the open air organic Farmers Market in Marina.
